FAQs

When are the leagues held and can I choose when I play?

Leagues are held at evening and weekends; you decide what suits. If there are vacancies you can join right away, otherwise you will have to wait for a vacancy to open on your chosen night.

Do I already need to be part of a team?

It is better if you have a team, but if not, we can place your details in our Find a Team section and try to match you up with other players or current teams looking for players.

How many players can my team use for a match and throughout the season?

A maximum of 8 players per game may be used for 5 a side leagues (for 7 a side, add 3 players). Teams may register up to 10 players (14 for a 7 a side). No player can be registered to more than one team in the same league or division. Players can't transfer their registration to another team at any point throughout the season.

Are the leagues affiliated?

Yes, the JP League is fully affiliated to the Manchester FA. A fully qualified and affiliated referee officiates every league match.

How many teams are there in each division?

Most leagues consist of eight teams, although some do vary from this standard size.

How long is a season?

The standard league season sees all teams play each other twice, therefore a standard 8 team division lasts 14 weeks. We operate a number of different leagues so you shouldn't have to wait too long to get sorted.

Is there promotion and relegation at the end of each season?

Added excitement features at the end of each season as team's battle to gain promotion or avoid relegation. Most of our leagues feature a two up and two down promotion and relegation system. The winners and runners up of each division receive individual trophies or medals.

How will I know how my team compares with other teams in the league and we won't end up getting beat every week or play games that are too easy?

Your team will play grading games to help us place you in a league suitable to your team's skill level. (Regular promotion and relegation will ensure that your team will continue to play at the level that suits them best).

What facilities are provided at the venue?

The JP League is played at Salford Sports Village, the home to 8 FA standard player changing rooms, 2 FA standard referee changing rooms, Cafe Bar, a 32 station fitness suite, 2 fitness studio's, a community library fitted with public computers, meeting rooms, 18 grass, full size adult pitches and of course our 3rd generation all weather artificial pitches.

What do I need to wear?

Shin guards are compulsory. Trainers or moulded boots must be worn. Metal tipped studs or blades are not allowed. Matching strips do not need to be worn but teams are required to wear the same coloured top.

How do I join one of the leagues?

It couldn't be easier, just give us a call, email us or drop by the centre. You can let us know what league you fancy or let us suggest one for you. Providing there is a vacancy available, your team can join a league mid season.
